90TH was a thesis project for IED Moda Milano by Giada Pezzolo & Mariella Bellini, I really enjoyed tutoring them and helping them with this. Part of the thesis on the evolution of the Goth subculture through the decades involved shooting a contemporary version of ‘ Trad Goth’, so we ventured in the dark recesses of Milan’s nightlife to find a couple of clubs where Goth parties were still a thing: photographing some real people and then bringing along two models to create some ‘styled’ images. The pictures are a tribute to Derek Ridgers and his ongoing work as a club photographer, his portraits of subcultural events and looks ( especially The Dark Carnival: Portraits from the Endless Night ) .
